End Game

Last night was a close one in New Britain. You could gauge how close the race was by feeling the reaction of the crowd as results from each district poured in on a large and bright projection screen. For a while Stewart was down until numbers from Vance school were delivered and put him over O'Brien. There was a block of about 25 minutes where Stewart was up by just 88 votes and the entire place was a jungle of people pacing back and forth and making phone calls while about 400 absentee ballots were counted across the street in City Hall. When numbers came back, Stewart was notified that he won the election.

The count is 4,548 votes for Stewart to O'Brien's 4,377. About 27 percent of the city voted.
