A Message from the DEBASER staff

After much deliberation and a round of drinks in the bottomless pit that is West Hartford Center, we decided to move our operation to Tumblr, because it makes us look more professional and increasingly shameless at the same time. And also because Blogger is absolutely terrible. Our new home is here.

- Much Love

The Do Drugs and Listen to WTIC News Talk 1080 Tally Game!

 ______________________

Hey Kids,

Here is a quick social experiment that readers can try at home, but ask mom and dad first. What you'll need to get started is a pen, paper, patience, and possibly some sort of heavy drug usage so you don't get panic attacks listening to the conservative talk radio hate agenda.

Thoughts on the Poll-Addicted Press and News Aggregation Whore CT Capitol Report

_________________

You don't have to look further than the homepage of CT Capitol Report to get a sense of the conventional wisdom eating away at the Connecticut press corps. The Drudge Report-wannabe of local political aggregation reinforces this line of thinking, where something complex like politics is being falsely presented through the prism of Right versus Left and up-to-the-minute poll results.

Dick Blumenthal's Day in Court

 ___________

 By Ken Lipshitz

All rise, court is now in order. The honorable Andre the Giant towers over his court of law, in front of him the plaintiff Dick Blumenthal and the defendant WWE Incorporated.

What's wrong with this picture? Well, one would assume Andre the Giant is nothing more than a massive zombie sent back from the grave for serious litigation matters.Wait, let's be honest -- that's all he is here for, Brett Hart is next to him as well. But I digress. This Senate race has been hyped up by the mainstream media as a no-holes barred slobberknocker between World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon and overall clown/jibroni Dick Blumenthal, where in reality it has been the people, i.e. Dick (because he knows what is best for Connecticut!) versus Linda's corporation.

Grave Disappointment: The Unfortunate Meeting with Richard Blumenthal

"Hi, I'm Dick Blumenthal. I sue things."

By Peter W. Gacek

The whole affair commenced the only way it could have.  Justin Kloczko, all-around nice guy, picked me up for a hopeful morning of debauchery and local politics at the Park Road parade in West Hartford.

"We need to get two black coffees."

My mind, still dark from a previous night of beer-swilling nonsense, was unable or unwilling to understand. However, we arrived at a local Dunkin' Donuts, where Justin proceeded to pull out a bottle of Bailey's as big as his head, and I understood immediately. Surviving the morning depended on our ability to overindulge and not to take this too seriously. We were two committed hacks ready to fire a few honest and possibly bastardized questions at Linda McMahon or anyone of her stature willing to talk.

We reached our destination early with time to give the place a decent run through. The scene was West Hartford's Park Road parade, a celebration of West Hartford having more money than any other town in the area.  Aside from it being like any other horrific display of floats, balloons, and red-white-and-blue confetti, its purpose was to provide an opportunity to catch a communal freak show of local politics, including the U.S. Senatorial candidates. So as we arrived, tainted coffees in hand, we parked and were ready to begin the hunt.

It was a sad state of affairs, things just barely beginning and no sign of anything coming together. I considered what we were up against and asked myself: Will Linda bother? What sort of time do we have with her? Why am I here?

Check Out One of The DEBASER'S Own Getting Shameless Plugs For Holding the Fire to Larson

________

Green Party candidate Krayeske appeared on Ray Ray Dunaway's WTIC Newstalk 1080 this morning to talk about the First District Congressional race. We all know Krayeske is going to lose, but it's seeing John Larson completely stumble when trying to recollect if he showed up to vote for one of the most important pieces of legislation to go through Congress in years. Larson said he was for keeping Glass-Steagall, but didn't even bother to show up for a vote. Of course, Ray Ray wasn't interested, he was just happy to let Krayeske get a polite word or two in.

Ann Brickley, his opponent, must be loving this, except that her party has been in the psych ward for the past 30 years. More on her campaign to come...

Here's the link to the talk this morning.
